Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company is dead, and the pirates who met him and his armada on the field of battle are victorious. Piracy, it seems, will continue on, with him gone and the threat of a vengeful Davy Jones removed. But rarely are things ever that simple. Cutler Beckett is dead, yes, but the EITC is a hydra. Cut off one head, two more take its place. Calypso has been released, but there are no promises she won't still turn on her erstwhile captors. The dead don't necessarily stay dead, not when there are forces at work that want to use them. And nothing at all in life is ever guaranteed. A harbinger, perhaps, of a storm just beyond the horizon, are the strangers turning up in Tortuga, walking out of a forest few ever make it back alive from. Most disregard it as pure hogwash - Tortuga is known for its openness in allowing pirates into her harbor and taking their money - as it comes from the mouths of pirates and the like who have only a distant memory of what sober feels like. Even if there have been a severe uptick in the number of green flashes appearing at sunset, an event that was once rare enough a man usually only saw it once in his life, if at all. That could be nothing but a coincidence, after all.
